Sunderland fans will no doubt be unimpressed as their manager has moved to replace £18m striker Bent with 31 year old Ricardo Fuller.
It was expected that Sunderland would splash the cash received by Villa to strenghthen their side but the capture of football journeyman Fuller is somehow an underwhelming signing.
Bruce who has had a real go at Houllier (despite the latter giving him £18m to spend) was tipped to make moves for Robbie Keane and Sebastian Larsson.
