Robbie Keane has asked to leave Spurs and West Ham have joined the race to sign him on loan, with a view of a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The Hammers who have also captured Demba Ba are keen to add power up front to battle relegation.
Keane's huge salary (£65,000 a week) is proving a problem for clubs who are interested in him. Birmingham withdrew their interest after learning they will need to at least match his wages for him to consider a move.
